KUSHTIA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - As part of its ongoing crackdown against smuggling, narcotics and illegal arms along the border areas of Kushtia district, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a locally made firearm, ammunition and Indian narcotic syrup during a special operation.

According to a BGB press release, a special patrol team from Jamalpur BOP under Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) conducted the operation at approximately 2:45 am on Wednesday, based on specific and reliable intelligence information.

During the operations, BGB personnel carried out a search operation in the Joypur Mathpara area under Daulatpur Upazila of Kushtia district.

The team recovered one locally made single-shooter pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and 20 bottles of Indian Tripolidine Hydrochloride and Codeine Phosphate syrup.

BGB officials said the suspected smugglers fled the scene after sensing the presence of the patrol team.

Later, based on intelligence inputs and local investigation, legal action was initiated against two suspected fugitives involved in the incident.

The recovered firearm, ammunition and narcotics have been handed over to Daulatpur Police Station after filing the necessary legal procedures.
