TANGAIL, May 15, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today said that the administration and volunteer teams will work together to prevent traffic jam on the Jamuna Bridge and Dhaka-Tangail highway ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
He said this while responding to questions from journalists before attending the Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti festival at the Tangail Shishu Academy auditorium in the afternoon.
The state minister said, to reduce the suffering of people heading home for Eid, every effort will be made to ensure a traffic-jam-free highway by deploying members of law enforcement agencies and volunteers. Additionally, the administration will issue necessary directives regarding the locations where sacrificial animal markets will be set up.
Tuku further said, "The Jamuna Bridge and Dhaka-Tangail highway, being one of the main routes for northbound travelers during Eid, experiences excessive vehicle pressure every year. Advance preparations are being taken to make this Eid journey comfortable. Special monitoring will be carried out, particularly on the 13-kilometer highway stretch from Elenga to the Jamuna Bridge."
