
CHATTOGRAM, May 15, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today emphasized the importance of sports and culture as reflections of a nation's identity.
He said the present government is working to strengthen talent development from cities to villages.
Mir Helal said the government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, believes that a healthy body and a creative mind are essential for building a prosperous and humane society.
"The government is committed to developing sports infrastructure across the country, creating training opportunities for youths and nurturing talents from urban to rural areas," he said.
The state minister made the remarks while addressing the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the 'Shah and Selina Alam Second Karate Competition', organised by the Chattogram Karate Association at the Dampara Police Lines Indoor Sports Complex in the city this afternoon.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali and Bangladesh Karate Federation President Shahzada Alam, among others, attended the function.
The state minister said the government is promoting various sports across the country to help develop the younger generation.
He also highlighted the importance of karate in building a bright and prosperous future for youths.
Mir Helal reiterated the government's commitment to raising a healthy and value-based generation, stressing the importance of discipline, tolerance and leadership in sports education to empower youths with confidence, skills and patriotism.
Chattogram Karate Association President Niaz Mohammad Khan presided over the event, while its Organising Secretary Abu Mosharraf Russell moderated the programme.
