Sudan PM pays courtesy call on President in London

DHAKA, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - Sudanese Prime Minister Dr Kamil Idris today paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin, now staying in London, United Kingdom.

"The informal meeting was held at the lobby of Hotel Hilton in London this morning," a source of the Bangabhaban Press Wing quoted President's Personal Secretary (PS) Md Didarul Alam as saying this evening.

During the meeting, the Sudanese premier enquired about the President's health condition and wished his speedy recovery.

Held in a very cordial atmosphere, Dr Idris prayed to Almighty Allah for the overall wellbeing of the people of Bangladesh as well as the good health of the President of Bangladesh.

Recalling the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Sudan, President Shahabuddin wished peace, welfare and prosperity for the people of Sudan.

During the meeting, the Sudanese Premier appreciated the President's prudent and patient leadership during Bangladesh's recent challenging period.

He also gratefully remembered the significant contribution of United Nations (UN) peacekeepers of Bangladesh in Sudan and wished continued progress and prosperity for Bangladesh.

The Head of State thanked the Sudanese Prime Minister for his sincerity and goodwill. 

He expressed hope that the existing bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Sudan would be further strengthened in the days to come.
