
KHULNA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) – KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud today said research-based knowledge and quality academic writing are among the key foundations of higher education and innovation in the modern world.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a daylong workshop titled “Crafting Academic Writing for Scientific Research” held on the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) campus, aiming to enhance students’ research and scientific writing skills.
Organised by the university’s Academic Achievement and Skill Development Centre (AASDC), the workshop was held at the Student Welfare Centre with AASDC Director Prof Dr Md Faruk Hossain in the chair.
The chief guest urged students to prepare themselves for participation in international-standard research publications alongside developing research-oriented skills.
Prof Masud said such workshops would play a vital role in promoting research, publication and creative knowledge practices among students.
Among others, Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Khandakar Mahbub Hasan, Dean of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, and Dean of the Humanities and Business Studies Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf addressed the programme as special guests.
In his speech, Prof Dr Md Faruk Hossain said the workshop was arranged as part of continuous efforts to enhance students’ academic competence, inspire interest in research and improve their scientific writing abilities.
Professor of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury conducted the training sessions as the resource person.
Third-year students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering departments took part in the workshop.
The workshop featured sessions on the fundamentals of scientific research, academic writing techniques, research ethics, citation and reference management, research publication processes, and hands-on research-based activities.
