Rain likely in parts of country

DHAKA, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast rain in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours beginning from 9am.

According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions; and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, the bulletin said.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged, while night temperature may rise slightly across the country.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga and Lakshmipur and may continue, the bulletin added.

The country's highest temperature on Monday was recorded at 37.0 degrees Celsius at Ramgati in Chattogram division, while today's minimum temperature was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius at Tangail in Dhaka division.

The sun will set at 6:39 pm today and rise at 5:12 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
