
KHULNA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - A delegation led by Paul Frost, commercial counselor of U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, has paid a courtesy call on Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju at the City Hall on Sunday (Yesterday) afternoon.
During the meeting, senior officials from KCC and the U.S. Embassy participated in an exchange of views.
On behalf of the delegation, the representatives expressed interest in working in several sectors of Khulna City including healthcare services, mosquito control, infrastructure development, transportation, and waste management.
Welcoming the delegation to Khulna, the KCC Administrator highlighted the corporation’s ongoing development projects across the city.
He also outlined the adverse impacts of climate change on the region and sought technical assistance from the U.S. government to help address existing challenges.
He assured the delegation of KCC’s full cooperation in initiatives related to renewable energy, tourism development, mosquito eradication, waste-to-energy generation, and road infrastructure improvement.
The Administrator also called for support in modernizing the city’s transportation sector including the possible introduction of electric buses or a metro rail service.
Among others, U.S. Embassy officials Isaiah Faherty, Brandon Barnes, Giovanni Ramirez, and Mashhur Alam Shet, KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jabbar, Waste Management Officer Engineer Md. Anisur Rahman, Chief Health Officer Dr. Sharif Shammiyul Islam, and Executive Engineer Sheikh Md. MasudKarim, were present.
