Minor girl drowns in Netrakona's Kalmakanda

NETRAKONA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - A 14-month-old girl drowned in a pond at Bamangaon village under Kalmakanda upazila of the district on this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sadia, daughter of Rahat Ali, a resident of the village.

According to family members and local residents, the incident occurred around 8:30 am when Sadia reportedly left her house headed toward a neighboring home. On the way, she accidentally fell into a nearby pond.

Being informed, family members rescued the girl and taken to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty physician declared her dead.

Sajal Sarkar, Inspector (Investigation) of Kalmakanda Police Station confirmed the matter.

The body was handed over to the victim's family.
