South Korea eyes investment in Bangladesh’s electronics sector

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) – South Korea has expressed strong interest in investing in Bangladesh's electronics manufacturing and technology sectors as the two countries explored ways to deepen economic and development cooperation.

The interest was conveyed by South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Ji-joon Kim during a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here today, said a press release.  

During the meeting, the ambassador highly appreciated Bangladesh's rapid economic progress and investment-friendly environment.

He highlighted South Korea's interest in investing in Bangladesh's electronics manufacturing and technology sectors and expressed willingness to expand cooperation in renewable energy, information technology, manufacturing industries and other promising areas.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on trade, investment, technology, industrialisation, infrastructure development, human resource development and skills enhancement.

Kobir commended the growing economic and development partnership between Bangladesh and South Korea and stressed the importance of enhancing trade and investment, technology transfer and industrial cooperation.

He welcomed greater South Korean investment in Bangladesh and assured the government's full support in facilitating such investments.

The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, reaffirmed both sides' commitment to maintaining close cooperation on issues of mutual interest and expressed optimism about taking Bangladesh-South Korea relations to a new height.
