CCGP approves fertilizer, raw material procurement proposals worth over Tk 704 crore

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved three key procurement proposals from the Ministry of Industries involving the import of fertilizers and essential raw materials at a combined cost of more than Tk 704 crore.

The approvals came at the 27th meeting of the CCGP for 2026 held at the Cabinet Division in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

According to officials, the committee approved a proposal for the direct procurement of urea fertilizer at a total cost of Tk 348.55 crore. 

The fertilizer will be supplied by Delta Star Trading FZ-LLC, UAE through its local agent Ibedita Trading of Dhaka.

The committee also approved the import of 25,000 metric tonnes of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The procurement will cost Tk 185.13 crore, with the price fixed at US$630.83 per metric tonne.

In another decision, the CCGP approved the import of 15,000 metric tonnes of Bright Yellow Rock Sulphur for the Triple Super Phosphate Complex Limited.

The contract was awarded to Fabsco Construction Ltd. at a total cost of Tk 171.01 crore, with a unit price of US$800 per metric tonne.

Officials said the approved imports are expected to help ensure an uninterrupted supply of fertilizers and key industrial raw materials to support the country's agricultural production and industrial operations.

A total of seven proposals from different ministries, including the Road Transport and Highways Division, the Local Government Division, and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, were placed before the committee for consideration during the meeting. 

The three proposals from the Ministry of Industries were among those receiving approval.
