VANCOUVER, June 19, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Co-hosts Canada moved to the brink of reaching the World Cup knockout phase for the first time as Jonathan David scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of nine-man Qatar in Vancouver on Thursday.

Canada eased to a maiden World Cup win against a sorry Qatar side who had Homam Al-Amin sent off in the first half and then Assim Madibo dismissed for a tackle that caused a nasty injury to home midfielder Ismael Kone.
