Admission activities of 621 technical education institutions suspended

DHAKA, June 25, 2026 (BSS) - The government has decided to suspend admission activities of 621 vocational education institutions across the country for failing to enroll any students for a prolonged period. 

At the same time, the institutions have been served show-cause notices asking why their teaching approvals should not be cancelled or withdrawn in accordance with the rules.

The information was disclosed in an order signed by Technical Education Board Secretary and Inspector (Additional Charge) Md Al Masud Karim today.

According to the list published by the board, Of the 621 institutions, 443 offer the SSC (Vocational) curriculum and 178 offer the Dakhil (Vocational) curriculum.

The order said all admission activities at the institutions that have not enrolled any students for a long period will remain suspended from the 2026-27 academic year.

The institutions have also been asked to submit a reasonable explanation to the board by July 22 as to why their teaching approvals should not be cancelled.
