
DHAKA, July 2, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has requested the concerned ministry to take initiative to repair Madhupur-Dewanganj road as he was informed about the poor condition of the road.
Upon receiving instructions, the Roads and Highways Department has started repair work on the road.
In this regard, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Nandail Road Sub-Division Md Abdullah Al Kabir told BSS that several parts of the road were damaged due to heavy vehicles during the repair work.
As per the instructions of the State Minister for Information, work has started to remove the suffering of the people, he said.
After alleviating the temporary problems, the Roads Department is now working for a permanent solution, he added.
Nandail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatema Jannat told BSS that the upazila administration is monitoring the matter as per the instructions of the local MP and the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Although it is the work of the Roads Department, the upazila administration is still working to ease the public suffering, she said.
When asked, Kishoreganj Roads Department Executive Engineer Shakil Mohammad Faisal said initiatives have been taken to construct the road to modern standards.
He said a letter has been sent to the Planning Commission to extend the project as its term has expired.
Besides, he said, the parts that were washed away by the rain have been repaired quickly. The remaining work will also be completed as soon as possible, he added.
Local MP and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan said after the poor condition of the road came to his attention, he spoke to the State Minister of the concerned ministry for its immediate repair.
Responding to the request, the State Minister concerned immediately directed the senior officials of Kishoreganj Roads Department and Mymensingh Roads Department to repair the road quickly.
Yasser Khan further said he himself is maintaining round-the-clock contact with the concerned officials and is keeping a close eye on the entire matter.
He said strict action has been taken against the contractor after investigating why he stopped the work despite the tender process of this road being completed a few years ago.
The state minister said: "We are committed to reducing the suffering of the people. All kinds of steps have been taken to complete the renovation work of the road quickly."
