Religious Ministry urges registration of unlisted Waqf properties

DHAKA, July 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has urged all concerned to register unlisted Waqf properties with the Office of the 
Administrator of Waqfs on an urgent basis.

The ministry took this initiative to ensure proper management, administration of the properties and protection those from encroachment.

According to Section 47 of the Waqf Ordinance, 1962, all Waqf properties across Bangladesh, including mosques, madrasas, Eidgahs, graveyards, 
Imambaras, Khanqahs and mazars, are required to be registered with the Office of the Administrator of Waqfs.

However, a large number of Waqf estates across the country are still unregistered.

The ministry requested all concerned to complete the registration of unlisted Waqf properties with the Office of the Administrator of Waqfs without delay 
to facilitate their proper management.

Application forms, the list of required documents and registration guidelines are available free of charge on the Bangladesh Waqf Administration website 
(www.waqf.gov.bd), at the offices of all Waqf Inspectors and at all Deputy Commissioners' offices.

The information was disclosed in a notification issued by Agency-2 Branch of 
the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
