KHULNA, July 2, 2026 (BSS) – Newly appointed Chairman of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona today said he wants to work with people from all walks of life to build a modern, inclusive and well-planned Khulna metropolitan city.

“Khulna belongs to everyone. To transform it into an attractive and liveable city, stakeholders' opinions will be given the highest priority instead of relying on unilateral decisions,” he said while exchanging views with representatives of different organisations, institutions, political parties and development activists at the KDA building.

The KDA chairman said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, in his electoral pledge, had expressed his commitment to restoring ownership of the country to its people.

“The decision to appoint a people’s representative to the KDA is aimed at fulfilling that commitment for the people of Khulna,” Mona said.

He said all development agencies would work in coordination to build a modern and planned Khulna through collective efforts.

Mona also said he would hold consultations with senior government officials, political leaders, public representatives, development workers, journalists, cultural activists and other stakeholders to identify problems within the KDA jurisdiction and determine effective solutions.

Earlier, representatives of the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association, eminent physicians, officials of different banks, development workers and political leaders greeted the newly appointed KDA chairman with bouquets.

Among others, KDA member (Estate) Md Iqbal Hossain, member (Administration and Finance) MM Mahmudur Rahman, member (Development) and Member (Planning and Development Control) Ruhul Amin Kutubuddin Ahmad were present during the meeting.
