BAGERHAT, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested alleged drug dealer Monir Sheikh (47), alias Moni Sheikh, along with three of his associates, during a special drive in Fakirhat upazila early today. 

Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabder disclosed the information at a press briefing held at his office this afternoon.

The other arrestees are Md Sabuj Mia alias Sabuj (30), Md Hafizur Rahman Molla alias Hafizul (37) and Touhidul Islam Sheikh Tamim (20).

The arrestees were held in a raid at Monir Sheikh's residence in the Barashia Madhyapara area under Fakirhat Model Police Station at around 3:30 am.

Police recovered 4,015 Yaba tablets, Tk 71,920 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, during the raid.

A case has been filed with Fakirhat Model Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

The superintendent of police said Monir Sheikh is accused in 26 cases and that an arrest warrant was also pending against him.
