Rain likely across country, heavy falls expected in 6 divisions

DHAKA, July 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning at many places across the country. 

According to a BMD bulletin issued this morning, rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is expected at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, it added.

Day temperature may rise slightly while night temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga under Khulna division, while the lowest temperature today was 23.5 degrees Celsius in Nikli under Dhaka Division. 

The sun will set at 6:50pm today and rise at 5:16am tomorrow in Dhaka, the bulletin added. 

For the subsequent four days, the BMD forecast continued rainfall activity across the country, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning likely in most areas.

Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected mainly over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during the period, while day temperatures may fall by 1-3 degrees Celsius on July 5 before remaining nearly unchanged in the following days.
