Dulu stresses cooperation to reduce dialysis costs for helpless patients

RANGPUR, July 3, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has stressed on assuring all-round cooperation to reduce dialysis costs for poor and helpless patients and prevent kidney-related diseases.  

"Regular health check-ups, safe food consumption and healthy living play an important role in preventing kidney diseases," he said. 
 
He said this while addressing a discussion organized as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly built dialysis center at Dr Selima Diabetes Hospital in Lalmonirhat town on Friday, initiated by Sonar Bangla Foundation, Bangladesh.
 
Sonar Bangla Foundation-Bangladesh Country Director Asadul Islam chaired the event participated by government officials, doctors, public representatives, social workers and people from different walks of life.

Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said that the inauguration of a modern dialysis center in Lalmonirhat has opened a new horizon in the medical care of kidney patients in the region.  

"With the launch of this center, patients will not have to travel far and wide for dialysis and it will be possible to easily get quality medical care at the local level," he said. 
 
The Minister said that disease prevention is more important than treatment. Therefore, there is no alternative to increasing health awareness, regular health check-ups and healthy living. 
 
The present government has taken the initiative to recruit one lakh healthcare workers to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the people. 
 
"These workers will go door to door to create awareness about maternal and child nutrition, balanced diet, safe living and disease prevention," he said. 
 
He said that establishing a modern mother and child hospital for the people of Lalmonirhat region is the need of the hour. 
 
The government will provide all necessary support to implement the initiative to establish this hospital. 
 

Emphasizing food safety, the Minister said that the use of chemical-containing food in the market is increasing at an alarming rate, which is increasing the health risks of people. 

"Therefore, everyone should come forward to consume safe food and increase health awareness," he said, adding that every member of the family should be aware to avoid the risk of kidney failure. 
 
He called on everyone to come forward to build a safe and prosperous Bangladesh.
