CHITTAGRAM, July 10, 2026 (BSS) – Chattogram city Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has claimed that floodwater has waned from about 80 percent of the city.

After inspection different flood-affected areas in the city today, he said all-out measures have been taken to ensure quick disposal of floodwater from the city.

“But, some low-lying areas of the city have remained inundated,” he added.

The Mayor, accompanied by Ershad Ullah, MP, visited several waterlogged areas, including Chandgaon Hajirpole, Chandgaon Residential Area, Balurtal, Ananya Residential, and Shamsherpara, to assess the waterlogging situation and check on residents affected by the flooding.

During the visit, the mayor distributed relief items among affected families and discussed the progress of ongoing efforts to solve the city’s waterlogging.

While inspecting the areas, the mayor and the lawmaker gathered feedback from local residents regarding the locations and reasons for water accumulation, the obstacles hindering drainage, and the necessary actions required for a swift resolution.

Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain stated that efforts are underway to identify areas where water drainage is slow, in collaboration with the local community.

Lawmaker Ershad Ullah emphasized that the present government stands in solidarity with those affected by the flooding.

“The government will persist in providing essential support to ease the hardships faced by the affected families.

No affected household will be left unsupported,” he added.
