5 more children die with measles symptoms

DHAKA, July 20, 2026, (BSS) - Five more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,069 children were reported infected with confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms during the same period, according to a press release of Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) here today.

According to the release, five more children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. However, no child was confirmed to have died from measles during the period.

Since March 15, a total of 698 children have died with measles symptoms across the country. In addition, 95 children have died after being confirmed with measles. Altogether, 793 children have died from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms during this period.

The report also said that, in the past 24 hours, 147 children were confirmed infected with measles, while 922 were suffering from measles-like symptoms. However, no confirmed measles death was recorded during this period.

According to DGHS data, a total of 101,026 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide from March 15 to today. Of them, 97,532 have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
