
DHAKA, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - The government has taken an initiative to offer
special discounts on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets to expatriate
Bangladeshis, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita said
today.
She said the initiative is part of a series of government measures aimed at
ensuring better facilities and hassle-free air travel services for expatriate
Bangladeshis.
The minister made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a reception
programme for first-year honours students at Government Debendra College in
Manikganj, said a press release here.
Highlighting the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis to the country,
Afroza said the government has undertaken various initiatives to ensure
necessary facilities and services for them.
"The government is committed to ensuring hassle-free air travel services for
expatriates," she said.
The minister said a shuttle bus service has also been introduced at Hazrat
Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to facilitate passenger movement and
improve convenience for travellers.
Speaking about the educational institution, Afroza said Government Debendra
College has been spreading the light of education for the past 84 years and
carries a rich legacy of involvement in the country's historic movements and
national events.
She recalled that Language Movement martyr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed was a student of
the college.
The minister said the institution has made significant contributions to
various mass movements and nationally important events, spanning the Language
Movement, the Liberation War and the July Movement of 2024.
Earlier, Afroza inaugurated the "Shaheed Zia", "Liberation War" and "July
Memorial Corner" at Government Debendra University College.
Manikganj-1 lawmaker S A Jinnah Kabir and senior officials of the district
administration, among others, attended the programme.
