Adviser council okays ICT (amendment) ordinance, 2025

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Council of Advisers today gave final approval to the draft ordinance of International Crimes (Tribunals) (Amendment) in principle with necessary amendments and subject to vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

The draft of International Crimes (Tribunals) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 has been framed to amend the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 to make it more time befitting.

The approval was given at a meeting of the Council of Advisers at the Chief Adviser's Office with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair, said a media release of the Cabinet Division. 

The Council of Advisers also gave approval to the draft of Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy, Rangpur (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 in principle and finally.

The approval was given to change the name of Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy, Rangpur to Rural Development Academy, Rangpur in line with the name of other similar institutions under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division such as Rural Development Academy, Bogura, and Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD).

The approval of the draft of Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy, Rangpur (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' was given by the meeting of the Council of Advisers subject to the vetting of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

Besides, the draft of the Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development Academy (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' was approved in principle and finally by the Council of Advisers, which is subject to the vetting of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

The approval was given to change the name of Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development Academy (BPARD), Gopalganj to Rural Development Academy, Gopalganj in line with the names of other similar institutions under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, such as Rural Development Academy, Bogra and Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD).

Moreover, the Council of Advisers also cleared the draft of Sheikh Hasina Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' in principle and finally, which is subjected to the vetting of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

In order to name of other similar institutions under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, such as Rural Development Academy, Bogura and Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD), the name of Sheikh Hasina Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur was changed to Rural Development Academy, Jamalpur.

Finally, the Draft of National Identity Registration Act (Repeal) Ordinance, 2025 was approved in principle and finally as supplementary subject.
