DHAKA, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh has not yet received a response from New Delhi regarding the Dhaka’s letter sent to facilitate the return of Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Affairs Adviser M Touhid Hossain confirmed today.

He shared this information briefly while talking to journalists at the foreign ministry here this afternoon.

When asked about the extension of former ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s visa by New Delhi, the adviser said, “I also learned about it through media. What can we do about it?”

In response to whether any reply has been received to the letter sent for Sheikh Hasina’s return, the foreign adviser reiterated, “We have not yet received any response for the letter sent to India for her return.”

On December 23, Dhaka sent a diplomatic letter to New Delhi seeking her return from India to Bangladesh on allegations of crimes against humanity.

On August 5, 2024, the Awami League government was overthrown in a student-led mass uprising, after which ousted prime Minister Hasina fled the country and took refuge in India.
