Ex-MP Latif placed on one-day remand

Chattogram Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) – A Chattogram court   today placed former lawmaker from Chattogram-11 constituency (Bandar-Patenga) M A Latif on   a one-day remand in a murder case.

The court also placed one Jubo League activist Towhidul Islam on a two-day remand in the same case.

The 6th Metropolitan Magistrate of Chattogram Md Shariful Islam passed the order as police produced Latif before the court and pleaded to place them on a 5-day remand in the case, sub inspector  of Chandgaon police station and the investigation officer of the case Faisal Javed told BSS.

On July 18 in 2024, a grocery shop worker Saiman Prokash Mahin was killed during an “Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, at Chandgaon area in the city, court sources said.

Mohammad Sharif, a friend of the deceased, filed a murder case with Chandgaon police station against 44 persons ex-MP Latif .

Earlier, on August 17, Police arrested ex-MP Latif from Bayezid Bostami area under Doublemooring Police Station in the city.
