Travel ban imposed on ex-minister Mujibul, ex-MP Zinnah

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed travel embargo on former railways minister Mujibul Haque, former Bogura-2 lawmaker Md Shariful Islam Zinnah and his wife Mohsina Akter over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the orders, allowing separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said the former railways minister allegedly amassed huge illegal wealth in his and his family members' names through tender rigging and appointing people in different offices taking huge money. The ACC said the accused may try to flee the country to evade justice.

In its plea against Zinnah and his wife, the ACC said the former Bogura-2 lawmaker and his wife acquired properties of Taka 2.61 crore amassed illegally, transferred and transformed the properties. The couple is trying to flee the country and a ban should be imposed against them to make them to face justice, it added.
