2 held over killing a girl after rape at Dakshinkhan

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police have unearthed the mystery of killing a 13-year-old girl after gang-rape in the city’s Dakshinkhan area with arresting two of the alleged rapists.  
 
The arrested have been identified as Robin Hossain (32) and Md. Rabbi Mridha (26). 
 
Police arrested the duo in a raid at Sreepur Police Station area under Gazipur district on January 30, 2025, said a police press release.
 
Dakshinkhan Thana Police said that the 13-year-old eighth grade girl went missing after leaving her house around 2:30 pm on January 16, 2025.
 
Police said a gang of criminals kidnapped the girl in a private car in front of Joynal Market in Dakshinkhan on January 16.  
 
Later, on January 27, 2025, the father of the missing girl filed a general diary (GD) with the Dakshinkhan police station in this regard. 
 
With the help of information and technology, Robin Hossain and Rabbi Mridha were arrested by the Dakshinkhan police station on January 30, 2025, from Sreepur police station area in Gazipur district. 
 
The arrested people were sent to the court on January 31, 2025 with a prayer for remand and the court granted two days. The detained Robin Hossain and Rabbi Mridha gave a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the court on Sunday.
 
In the statement, they said that on the day of the incident, they trapped the victim and took her to a house in Mohakhali. Then they tied the victim's hands and face with a cloth and raped her together with five people.
 
Later, they wrapped the body and dumped it on the road slope in Hatirjheel in a rickshaw from Mohakhali at midnight on the day of the incident.
