Chattogram, March 1, 2025 (BSS) – Announcing Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will continue to go for investment and subsidy for expanding education, its mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain today said students should pay more attention to moral education.
He made the remarks at the prize distribution and cultural function at the annual sports competition of the National Housing Authority High School at the CCC’s Akbarsha Janarkhil ward as chief guest.
He said, ‘If a doctor is highly educated but does not treat the poor, then that education is worthless. Similarly, if a teacher does not get the opportunity to teach poor students, the education he received will not bring any benefit to society.
Mayor Dr Shahadat said, the CCC is the only city corporation in the country that has huge investments in education and health sectors. At present, CCC has already turned almost 65 thousand students into skilled human resources through 88 educational institutions.
In this case, I consider the annual subsidy which is being provided as an investment rather than expenditure for development of Chattogram and the country. That is why as a mayor I will continue to invest in the education sector.
Chattogram City Unit Joint Secretary of BNP Monjurul Alam Monju was the key speaker. Former CCC councillor Abdus Sattar Selim, Mainuddin Chowdhury Mainu, Rehan Uddin Prodhan, Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, Kamal Uddin Parvez, Lutfor Rahman and Sourov Priyo Paul, among others addressed, while Zamir Uddin, an eminent citizen chaired the event.
