ACC files cases against ex-MP Tanvir, his son and daughter

DHAKA, Mar 02, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed separate cases against former lawmaker from Sirajganj-4 constituency Tanvir Imam, his son Mahin Imam and daughter Manije Ismot Imam for their alleged involvement in acquiring illegal wealth beyond their known source of income.

ACC Deputy Director (public relations) Md Akhter Hossain today said Tanvir Imam, son of former adviser to ousted prime minister Hossain Tawfiq Imam (HT Imam), has amazed Taka 30,63,03,836 that is contrary to his known source of income. 

He amazed the money by adopting various types of corruption when he was member of the parliament (MP), the ACC sources added. 

ACC Deputy Director (DD) Mohammad Joynal Abedin of its headquarters filed the case against him under section 27(1) of the ACCAact-2004 and section 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Law of 1947.

Besides, ACC Assistant Director (AD) Md Shahidur Rahman filed another case against Mahin Imam, son of Tanvir Imam for amazing illegal wealth worth about Taka 3,07,49,548 under section 27(1) of the ACC Act 2004. 

Tanvir Imam, when he was a parliament member, helped his son to earn this wealth illegally and committed crime under section 109 of Bangladesh Penal Code, the ACC AD added. 
 
Meanwhile, ACC Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Wash Kuruni filed another case against Manije Ismot Imam, daughter of Tanvir Imam, for her alleged involvement in amazing illegal wealth worth about Taka 1,97,15,717 under section 27(1) of the ACC Act 2004. 

Tanvir Imam, when he was parliament member, helped his daughter to illegally earn the money by using illegal power, the DAD said, adding that the former lawmaker committed crimes under section 109 of Bangladesh Penal Code.
