2 drug peddlers held with 5,000 pieces of yaba in Motijheel

DHAKA, March 2, 2025 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained two members of the inter-district drug peddling gang with 5,000 pieces of contraband yaba in the capital’s Motijheel area.   

The detainees were identified as Md. Al-Amin, 38 and Mamun Sheikh, 40, said a DMP media release today.

It said a team of DB, Lalbagh division, acting on a tip-off, conducted the raid on Saturday at 07:30pm at Arambagh of Motijheel and rounded the duo up with yaba.

Police said the estimated cost of the yaba is worth about TK 15 lakh. 

During the initial interrogation, police said that the detainees confessed that they had been involved in active members of an inter-district drug peddling gang. They had been collecting various illegal drugs, including Yaba, from border districts including  Cox's Bazar for long   and selling them in other parts of the capital.

A case was filed against them in this connection.
