DHAKA, March 2, 2025 (BSS) – The Ministry of Education has issued a directive instructing the relevant authorities to ensure the enrollment of family members of those, who were martyred and injured during the July-August 2024 uprising, in government secondary schools.
The directive was issued through an office order from the Education Ministry, signed by Deputy Secretary Mosammat Rahima Akhter this afternoon.
The order stated that 5% of seats in government secondary schools must be reserved for the children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and the family members of those who were injured or martyred during the July mass uprising.
The authorities concerned have been instructed to properly scrutinize the freedom fighter certificate or gazette notification of the martyrs of the July movement.
The order further mentioned that if children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, or family members of those injured or martyred in the July uprising are not available, the reserved seats must be filled with students from the merit list.
The Education Ministry also directed school authorities not to leave these seats vacant under any circumstances.
