Two held with 18 gold bars in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two alleged smugglers with 18 gold bars worth about Taka 3 crore from Sarajganj Bazar area in Sadar upazila today.

The arrested were Rafiqul Islam, 42, of Pirpurkullah village under Damurhuda upazila of the district and Liton Khan, 26, of Hossainpur village of Debidwar Police Station in Cumilla district.

Being informed, a BGB team of Chuadanga BGB-6 Battalion intercepted a bus of 'Purbasha Paribahan' around 1.30 on the Chuadanga-Jhenaidah highway in front of Chuadanga BGB-6 Battalion Headquarters and arrested two passengers with 18 gold bars, said Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan, commander of BGB-6 Battalion, at a press conference at his office around 4 pm.

A case was filed with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station in this connection.

The seized gold bars have been deposited in the Chuadanga Treasury Office.
