DHAKA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said building a new Bangladesh is impossible leaving the teacher community hungry.

"It's not possible to build a new Bangladesh leaving the teacher community hungry," he said, expressing solidarity with the teachers who are observing sit-in program demanding MPO registration of non-MPO educational institutions in front of the National Press Club.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "We don't expect the Chief Adviser and Education Adviser to allow the teachers and staff to remain on the streets during this holy month of Ramadan, demanding for their salaries and allowances. Neglecting the teaching community, who are the builders of the nation, makes developing a new Bangladesh impossible."

Since February 23, teachers of the Sammilit Non-MPO Oikya Parishad have been holding sit-in programs in front of the National Press Club demanding MPO.

The BNP leader said the current interim government is the government which took office exchange of the sacrifice of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Mughda and Ahnaf, and it is their responsibility to alleviate the suffering of teachers.

However, the government has not paid the slightest attention to the demands raised by non-MPO teachers, he added.

The BNP spokesperson said, "We're hearing that there is a 'kitchen cabinet' in the government. Because of them, Professor Muhammad Yunus can't take any decision alone."

He continued, "He is the chief adviser, equal to the Prime Minister. He can take some decisions by himself. But some advisers are not allowing that to happen. I don't understand what benefit they have by leaving the teachers hungry."

Rizvi said, "Dr M Aminul Islam is a talented teacher and a great 'academician'. Some advisers have misguided the Chief Adviser and that is why Aminul Islam was not given the position of Education Adviser even though his name was announced. It is very unfortunate how a worthy and qualified person is being insulted."

Chief coordinator of the Non-MPO organization Principal Md. Dabirul Islam, chief coordinator Principal Md. Nazmus Shahadat Azadi, organizing coordinator Principal Md. Monimul Haque, joint organizing coordinator Principal Md. Imran Bin Solaiman, coordinator Principal Sajjad Hossain, coordinator Principal Abdus Salam, coordinator Principal Baki Billah, coordinator and head teacher Abu Bakkar Md. Ershadul Haque, among others, also spoke.
