CUMILLA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Organizer (Southern Region) of the National Citizen Party, Hasnat Abdullah, today said collective efforts of all are required to build the nation.
"We have a responsibility towards those who were martyred and injured during the July uprising. Politically-conscious people should not forget that they did not take to the street during the mass uprising for any personal gain or position, rather they took to the street for the wellbeing of the country and its people," he said.
He told journalists after taking part in a namaz-e-janaza of Abdus Samad, 52, who was shot on August 5 and later died while undergoing treatment, on Dhamati Habibur Rahman High School ground in Debidwar upazila of the district.
Hasnat said that the late Samad was driven by love both for the country and his home district to join the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Hasnat pledged that he would take the responsibility of the family of Samad. He also assured the family of the deceased that he would take initiative so that the family can get financial assistance from the July Smriti Foundation.
Debidwar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Abul Hasnat Khan, BNP Cumilla south unit member secretary FM Tareque Munsi and Debidwar upazila former vice chairman Saiful Islam Shahid, among others, took part in the janaza.
Later, Hasnat Abdullah met the family members of Samad and provided financial assistance to his wife.
