2 drug peddlers held with truck, ganja in Shahjahanpur

DHAKA, March 7, 2025 (BSS) - Two drug peddlers were apprehended in the capital's Shahjahanpur area with 40 kilograms of ganja and a truck, used for the drug transportation.

The arrestees were identified as Ershad Mia, 40, and Md. Rabik Mia, 32, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

A team of detective branch (DB), Motijheel Division of DMP, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at the east side of Shahjahanpur land office and nabbed the duo with the ganja. They also seized a truck used for the transportation of the ganja.

Police said the estimated value of the ganja is Taka 8 lakh.

In the initial interrogation, police said, they admitted that they are active members of a professional drug trafficking ring, and stored and transported the seized ganja for sale and distribution.

Legal action is underway against them.
