6 arrested over Banasree armed robbery

DHAKA, March 8, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested six individuals in connection with the shooting and robbing of a gold trader in the capital's Banasree last month. 

DMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman told BSS today that a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the six people and recovered the looted gold and illegal firearms from them. 

The robbery incident took place on February 23 at around 10:30pm when Anwar Hossain, a jewelry businessman, was ambushed just before entering his house on Road No 7 in Banasree's D Block. Later, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Anwar filed a case over the incident at Rampura Police Station.
