Court issues travel ban on Hasina, Rehana, 5 others

DHAKA, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on seven people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikha Rehana as well as her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, over graft allegations.
 
The other people who were barred from leaving the country are - Sheikh Rehana's daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq Rupanti and son Radwan Mujib Siddiq.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The ACC in its plea said the commission is probing corruption allegations of Taka 59,000 crore against the accused.
 
"So, travel ban should be imposed on them for the sake of proper investigation," the ACC plea added.
