DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today said the student politics that was emerged in the educational institutions and campuses in the last 16 years destroyed the society as it was not student politics.

“That student politics has destroyed our society and spoiled the talent of students,” he said at a Quran recitation competition and award distribution ceremony, organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University.

Annie said Chhatra Dal did not get the proper opportunity to present itself to the new generation in the past years due to the campus-based misrule.

After August 5, there has been a qualitative change in national politics, he said, adding that Chhatra Dal will work continuously to realize the rights of students with this positive change.

He hoped that Chhatra Dal will be able to bring back a healthy campus-based student politics through its work.

He also said, "The students of this generation who are studying in schools, colleges or universities did not have a good image about student politics."

"They did not see any good side of student politics. They assumed that the Chhatra League's ill-politics is the student politics of Bangladesh," Annie added.

He also said the 31-point state reform outline given by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman can bring about a good governance system in the country.

"For that, an elected government is needed in the country. We need unity to re-establish a people's government," Annie added.
