Joint forces arrest former city councillor in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 2, 2025 (BSS) - The joint forces have arrested former councillor of Ward No. 22 of Rangpur City Corporation and Awami Sramik League leader Mizanur Rahman Mizu in a case of attempted murder of a van driver Abu Sayeed during the July Uprising.
 
"Mizanur Rahman Mizu was arrested from his house in Ward No. 22 of the city on Tuesday night," Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman told BSS on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Mizanur Rahman Mizu is a leader of the Rangpur Metropolitan Jatiya Sramik League. He is accused of attacking students and the public during the July Uprising.
 
OC Ataur Rahman also said that the name of Mizanur Rahman Mizu has come up in the investigation into the attempt to kill van driver Abu Sayeed during the July Uprising movement.
 
 “We produced the arrested person before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court this afternoon. The court later sent him to jail,” the OC told BSS at 6:00 pm.
