DHAKA, April 03, 2025 (BSS) - Train service on Dhaka-Mymensingh rail section resumed after remaining suspended for two hours after a fire incident on Mahua Express.

Fire broke out in the commuter train Mahua Express when it was approaching to Saat Khamair Railway Station of Gazipur from Dhaka at around 10:30.

As Saat Khamair Station was closed at this time there was no employee in the station to communicate after the fire incident, Sreepur Fire Service officer Rezaul Karim said.

After receiving information from Dhaka two units of Sreepur Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after one and half hour frantic efforts.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately and there was report of casualties, Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway (BR) Md Afzal Hossain told BSS.

A probe committee was formed comprising Divisional Electrical Engineer Farhana Sultana, Divisional Mechanical Engineer and Divisional Traffic Controller to find out the cause of fire and extent of damage, the DG said.
