Navy provides emergency relief, medical assistance to flood affected people in Satkhira

DHAKA, April 3, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy today provided emergency relief and medical assistance to the affected people and stranded by flash floods in Ashashuni of Satkhira district.
 
Several villages were flooded after the embankment of the Water Development Board broke on March 31 due to the rise of water and strong current in the Kholpetua River in Anulia union of Asashuni upazila.
 
In this sudden flood, a vast area including shrimp farms and boro rice fields were submerged under water and many people are living a miserable life, said an ISPR press release here today.
 
In this situation, the Bangladesh Navy is making its utmost efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the people. Under the overall supervision of Commander Khulna Naval Region, the Navy's relief and medical teams are distributing food aid, medical services and essential life-saving supplies to the affected people.
 
The Navy will continue its relief and medical assistance activities in close coordination with the local administration until the disaster situation in Asashuni returns to normal.
 
The Bangladesh Navy has always stood by as a symbol of reliability in any crisis and disaster in the country.
 
Standing by the people during times of crisis is not only a responsibility, it is a firm commitment of the Bangladesh Navy, the release added.
