Shramik League leader Alamgir arrested over Manik murder during July- Aug movement

DHAKA, April 5, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested a Shramik League leader for his alleged involvement in the murder of Abdul Qadir alias Manik during anti-discrimination movement in the city's Uttara area.

The arrestee Alamgir Hossain, 45, is the former general secretary of Uttarkhan Thana Shramik League.  

A team of Uttara East Police Station arrested Alamgir from Uttarkhan Thana area around 11 pm on Friday with the help of intelligence information and technology, said a police press release.

On August 5, 2024, Abdul Qadir alias Manik, an employee of a rod cement shop in the Azampur area of Uttara East Police Station, was shot in the head and died while participating in the anti-discrimination movement in Uttara here.

The victim's wife Rahima Akhtar filed a murder case with Uttara East Police Station on August 26, 2024 in this connection.

The arrested person was sent to the court.
