DHAKA, April 6, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has sent Alamgir Hossain, former general secretary of Uttarkhan thana Shramik League, to jail in a case filed over the killing of Abdul Kader alias Manik during the student-led mass uprising in the Uttara area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Saturday as police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

However, the court postponed the remand hearing due to the prosecution's failure to submit the primary case documents, and instead ordered Alamgir to be sent to jail.

Earlier, Police arrested Alamgir from the Uttarkhan area on April 4.

According to case documents, Abdul Kader was participating in an anti-discrimination rally in Uttara on August 5, when he was shot in the head and died on the spot.

His widow, Rahima Akter, filed a case with Uttara East Police Station on August 26.
