RANGPUR, April 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a counterfeiter on charges of producing and circulating fake Indian rupees from Shibganj Gandagram village of Ranisankail upazila of Thakurgaon district last evening.

Arrestee Md Hossain Ali, 40, is a resident of Maradhar (Majhpara) village in Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon, said a RAB-13 press release today.
 
On information, a team from the RAB-13 arrested the currency faker during a raid.

The elite force recovered one lakh fake Indian rupees, Tk 8,000 in cash and a mobile phone from his possession.

During initial questioning, Ali confessed to his involvement in producing counterfeit currency, which he had been distributing, particularly in the local markets of Ranisankail upazila, said the press release.

RAB filed a case and handed over him to Ranisankail Police Station for legal action.
