DHAKA, April 17, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted and sentenced one Md Nasir, 25, to 10-year imprisonment in a case lodged for raping a six-year-old girl in the south Munshihati area of suburban Kamrangirchar in 2021.

Judge Md Moshiar Rahman of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the judgment in the presence of the convict. He was later sent back to jail with a conviction warrant.

The court also fined the convict Taka one lakh or to suffer one year more behind bars in default.

According to the case documents, Nasir lured the victim to the office room of a factory behind Nuru Baburchi's house in south Munshihati area on November 26, 2021, and raped her. The Victim's mother filed the case with the Kamrangirchar Police Station.

Police on December 27, 2021, arrested Nasir. He later gave a confessional statement before the court. Police filed the charge sheet on May 31, 2022.
