ACC conducts drive at BMU Super Specialized hospital

DHAKA, April 17, 2025 (BSS) - A team of Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) today conducted an operation at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Super Specialized Hospital over allegation of corruption and irregularities.

ACC assistant director (public relation) Tanjir Ahmed said the enforcement team collected internal probe report on corruption about recruitment of manpower of the hospital from director and office of the Pro Vice Chancellor (administration) of the medical university.

He said the report revealed huge irregularity regarding manpower recruitment after preliminary scrutiny.

The team also collected related documents of the super specialized hospital’s project.
According to the project, a total of 157 people received training from South Korea with project finance for giving service to the hospital for at least five years, but only 85 officers came and joined the hospital.
The team also found irregularities in operating of a bank, a pharmacy and two canteens inside the hospital.

The Enforcement Team has stated that they will thoroughly examine the collected documents and submit a comprehensive report to the ACC for further action.
Besides, recently an enforcement team conducted operation on allegations of various irregularities including embezzlement of Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage property.

Meanwhile, another operation was carried out against corrupt officials of Bangladesh Coast Guard and Water Development Board on charges of procurement ships and manufacturing dredgers from Karnaphuli Ship Builders.
