DHAKA, April 17, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said elections must be held after ensuring reforms and justice.

"Elections must be held in such a way that no one can make it questionable," he told a press briefing at a hotel here.

A five-member delegation led by Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr Shafiqur Rahman visited Europe from April 7 to 10 and the United Kingdom on April 11 and 12 at the invitation of Chairman of the European Union's 'Delegation for South Asia Relations' Serban Dimitrie Sturdza.

Based on this visit, a 'Meet the Press' event was organized at a city hotel in the capital this afternoon.

If the elections are held without the necessary reforms, no foundation for democracy will be created in the country, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said.

He said during the tour, he talked about issues like how to make the upcoming elections in Bangladesh fair and acceptable and the ways to make national unity of the country stronger in future.

Jamaat leaders including Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman, Maulana Anam Shamsul Islam, Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Parwar and Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum were present on the occasion.
