CUMILLA, April 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Prof Mia Golam Parwar today said student-led mass movement liberated the nation from fascist Sheikh Hasina in 2024.

Speaking as the chief guest at a workers' conference held at Laksam Pilot High School in Cumilla, Parwar said the Awami League (AL) manipulated elections over the past decade.

"The AL repeatedly returned to power without fair elections-through uncontested polls in 2014, night-time voting in 2018, and the 'Ami and Dummy' election in 2024," he said.

The event was organized by the Laksam Upazila and Municipal units of Jamaat.

Parwar accused the fallen AL of widespread persecution.

"The AL killed hundreds of Jamaat leaders and activists, including members of our central leadership," he said.

He also said the fallen AL government targeted religious believers through arrests and torture in an attempt to cling to power.

No government can survive by committing injustice, oppression, and tyranny, he added.

Among others, Jamaat assistant secretary general Maulana ATM Masum and central executive council member Abdur Rob also addressed the meeting.
