DHAKA, April 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Md Shahe Alam Murad, former general secretary of Dhaka South City unit of Awami League (AL) and Dhaka North City AL legal affairs secretary Advocate Anisur Rahman on a four-day remand each in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand.

Detective Branch (DB) of police on Thursday arrested Md Shahe Alam Murad from Uttara in the capital. A separate team of DB arrested Anisur from a house in the city's Tejgaon.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and its associate bodies tried to hold an anti-government rally in the National Stadium area on April 6. Their aim was to carry out subversive activities to destabilise the law and order of the country, police said.

Later the police filed the case with the Paltan Police Station.
