THAKURGAON, April 29, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that BNP leaders and workers should not do injustice to people like Awami League.
"If any party leader and worker does wrong, the district leaders should suppress them with a strong hand or hand them over to the police. Stop the misdeeds, otherwise the people will throw BNP like Awami League," he told a rally at Molani High School ground in Chilarang Union in the district.
He said that during the Hasina's rule, BNP leaders and workers were severely tortured. "Our leaders and activists were disappeared, false cases were filed against millions of leaders and activists and they were not allowed them to stay at home.
We were not fled anywhere. We had faced false cases in court through the law. We had hired a lawyer and had taken bail. Why are you (Sheikh Hasina) on the run? You also fight cases. Why don't you come to the country and stand up?" he said.
Addressing the people, the BNP Secretary General said, "Many of you think that the dictator Sheikh Hasina will return to the country again. She was the Prime Minister of the country for 15 years. Her father Sheikh Mujibur was a famous person. She wasn't supposed to flee the country. Why did she flee? Because, she was a witch.
She tortured the people severely, that's why she was forced to flee. If the people had found her that day, they would have torn her to pieces. If Hasina returns to the country and does politics, we will not have to do anything, the people will take care of her."
Questioning the public representation of former Awami League MPs in his constituency, Mirza Fakhrul said, "The roads and ghats in this area have not been developed as you support BNP. There are many areas that have been deprived due to supporting the BNP. Do you think such people are qualified to be public representatives? Let us build a country of love together".
BNP Sadar Upazila President Abdul Hamid chaired the rally while District General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice President Sultanul Ferdous Namro Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary Poygam Ali, Sadar Upazila Branch General Secretary Mahbub Hossain Tuhin, and district-upazila-union BNP leaders were present.
