DHAKA, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said the people of Bangladesh want to see the killers’ punishment without delay.

"We will not let the spirit of July fade away. Instead, we will carry it forward with conviction, InshaAllah," he told a late-night street rally on Saturday at Moghbazar intersection soon after the government banned the activities of Awami League.

Dr Shafiqur said, "There must be zero tolerance for the killers. The people want to see their punishment immediately."

He urged all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to unite for welfare of the nation by embracing the historical revolution of students and the masses.

He said, "The fallen autocrats and their allies must be brought to justice without delay. The people's rightful demands must be fulfilled."

Dr. Rahman said while the ban on AL activities marks a partial fulfillment of their long-standing demands, the complete implementation is still pending.

"The July Proclamation has yet to be declared. The full announcement of the revolution is still awaited," he said, urging all to proceed with patience and determination.

He further claimed that meetings with the families of martyrs revealed that they are not seeking financial aid from the government, but rather swift justice against Sheikh Hasina and her associates.

Dr. Rahman expressed hope that the current government, which came to power through public movement, would honor the people's aspirations and fulfill their logical demands.

He also warned against any return to autocracy or fascism.

"The people want peace, a society free of discrimination, and the rule of law," he added, calling on the government to carry out its duties impartially and without succumbing to emotion or political bias.

Chaired by Ameer of Jamaat Dhaka North City Mohammad Selim Uddin, the rally was also addressed by Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Nazimuddin Molla, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Yasin Arafat and Md. Ataur Rahman Sarkar, among others.

Secretary of Jamaat Dhaka South City Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud conducted the rally.
